LIFE Detroit, the Leather Institute for Education, Detroit will be holding its Third Anniversary Party on the weekend of July 8 - 10, 2005

Friday, July 8 - Anniversary Kick-Off

  • 10 p.m. - Pre-Anniversary Party - We will have dancing and be getting together to have some good food and drink. A $2 donation will be your entrance to a night of fun, as you can meet those who will be involved with LIFE Detroit's Celebration for the weekend, including several titleholders from IML.
  • A bar craw to the Detroit Eagle, and the R&R Saloon will be happening Friday. Tickets for the bar crawl are $5 and only available at Diamond Jim's Saloon the night of the Bar Crawl.
  • A slient auction will begin on Friday night and end on Sunday, at 3 p.m. The Silent Auction is cash only. ATM's are available at the bar and at the bank located across the streeet from the bar.

Saturday, July 9 - Afternoon Anniversary Events

  • Noon to 7 p.m. - Vendor Market and Swap Meet - Come see vendors from Michigan and neighboring states that will be bringing items for all tastes to purchase. Got items you no longer use or want? Here is your chance to 'swap' them out with other folks at LIFE's Swap Meet. Come and see what other people have to offer and see what deals can be made at the "Swap Meet". A $2 donation will be hour entrance to these events.

  • 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. - Live Auction Unlike the Silent Auction which runs all weekend, this Auction is loud and alive! We will have an auctioneer on hand to help us close out the afternoon.

Saturday, July 9 - Evening Anniversary Events

  • 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. - Educational Demonstrations A $10 entrance fee to a night of fun and learning. Throughtout the night, local Detroit Groups will be conducting demonstrations, while others will be showing off other techniques as well. Also information will be provided on the equipment, such as how each piece can be used effectively, its purpose, etc.

  • The Silent Auction continues through the evening, so keep checking on your bid to make sure you are still in the running for your favorite item.

    From the Leather Journal Issue #186 September 2005, page 28:

    On Wednesday July 27, Mr. Leather Cowboy 2005 Daniel Reed and Jeff Montgomery from the Triangle Foundation wre presented checks, which the Leather Institute For Education raised at their Third Anniversary Weekend, held July 8-10. A third check for the Leather Archives and Museum will be taken to Chicago to be presented.

    The Triangle Foundation is Michigan's statewide civil rights, advocacy and anti-violence organization.

    Over 100 people attended the weekend event, with $300 being raised for the charities. Jack Rinella was the Keynote speaker for the weekend.
